Shadow's an It!

Shadow has now been spayed. She also has her microchip.

The vet. directions are 'no exercise for 10 days' - that is like telling popcorn not to pop in a hot pan!

She is such a love - and loves everyone.

Puppy class is going well. She is really in to getting treats, so she is easy to train! Must be the poodle in her!

House Plants

So the little yellowish plants are a mystery plant....doesn't look like anything I planted in the pot last year!

This my $5 hibiscus plant. Blooming in the middle of winter!

Gene's Meat Rub

We had the privilege of dining at the Thornton's home in December. Gene has developed a meat rub that is outstanding and he actually shared the recipe. So here it is for those you like the idea of a dry rub for their meat.

Gene Thornton's Meat Rub

Equal Parts: Black Pepper, Season Salt, Onion Powder and Garlic Powder

1/2 as much Kosher Salt

and, if you like 1/4 as much Celery Salt

Mix all ingredients together - place in a sealed container and store in a cupboard that doesn't get too warm.

I purchased a 2.62 oz container of onion powder (which measured 1/2 cup) so that is the measurement I used for the remainder of the "equal parts"

January 8

Haven't a clue what type of bird this is but it and hundreds of it's friends visited yesterday.

So far this has been a busy month. Places to go and people to see almost every day this week.

I've been de-cluttering the house. It is amazing how quickly we accumulate things and can't find places for them.

I am also, finally, letting go of THINGS that I should have let go of years ago. I suppose it is enough that I can finally say "I don't have to keep all my parents 'things'. I don't have to keep 'things' people have given me that I no longer need."

Looking forward to have organized closets and drawers....and empty spaces!

Beware Emusic, Blockbuster and Netflix

We just had to take drastic steps because Emusic, Blockbuster, and Netflix have been charging for services that were never authorized. We haven't signed up for ANY memberships so all charges are fraudulent.

Watch your credit card bills.

I always considered Netflix legitimate - not so any longer. When I called to question the FRAUDULENT charges I was assured the 'membership' must have been a keystroke error and all charges were credited AND 'membership' canceled. NOT SO!

Emusic is worse...many, many complaints on the internet about their business practices and the scams perpetrated on unsuspecting consumers. Attempts to contact this company appeared to be DELIBERATELY obstructive.

Blockbuster was AWESOME...the technician apologized for the outside entity that padded THEIR books with fraudulent memberships.

January 1st

Each year on January 1st I take a photo of the view from our house. For the first time we had rain and fog!

By this afternoon the view was better, but not motorcycle weather!

I bought a rib roast for day's special dinner. Thanks to the internet and a digital thermometer it was properly prepared. This was my gift to Larry...I don't care for rare meat OR large quantities of meat. This will be last piece of beef we see for quite some time!
