Larry, Suzanne, Charlotte and Ray

We just returned from the NASCAR weekend in Las Vegas. Awesome infield parking in our friend's motor home.

Had a great time. Weather was crappy on Saturday, but Friday and Sunday were very nice.

We enjoyed visiting with Charlotte and Ray as much as seeing the race!

Vulture Warming Up

A turkey vulture was enjoying the sunny day - warming itself atop a utility pole across from our deck.

Shadow's an It!

Shadow has now been spayed. She also has her microchip.

The vet. directions are 'no exercise for 10 days' - that is like telling popcorn not to pop in a hot pan!

She is such a love - and loves everyone.

Puppy class is going well. She is really in to getting treats, so she is easy to train! Must be the poodle in her!

House Plants

So the little yellowish plants are a mystery plant....doesn't look like anything I planted in the pot last year!

This my $5 hibiscus plant. Blooming in the middle of winter!

Gene's Meat Rub

We had the privilege of dining at the Thornton's home in December. Gene has developed a meat rub that is outstanding and he actually shared the recipe. So here it is for those you like the idea of a dry rub for their meat.

Gene Thornton's Meat Rub

Equal Parts: Black Pepper, Season Salt, Onion Powder and Garlic Powder

1/2 as much Kosher Salt

and, if you like 1/4 as much Celery Salt

Mix all ingredients together - place in a sealed container and store in a cupboard that doesn't get too warm.

I purchased a 2.62 oz container of onion powder (which measured 1/2 cup) so that is the measurement I used for the remainder of the "equal parts"

A little time on my hands!
